Can small businesses access MoneyHelp products and services?
Yes. Small business owners and other organisations can order MoneyHelp’s free promotional products and information resources using the order form on this website. Small business owners can also request that the MoneyHelp Industry Liaison Officer contact them to discuss the MoneyHelp services.
However, MoneyHelp is intended for the use individual Victorians who have experienced or are facing job loss or reduced working hours because of the economic downturn. The rights and options of small businesses affected by the downturn are beyond the scope of MoneyHelp.
Small businesses should refer to the Code of Banking Practice (http://www.bankers.asn.au) for information about their rights and options in relation to bills and debts.
The Code establishes the banking industry’s key commitments and obligations to its individual and small business customers on standards of practice, disclosure and principles of conduct for their banking services.
The Code is not legislation but when your bank adopts the Code, it becomes a binding agreement between you and your bank. In some respects the Code provides for situations not covered by the law and in others goes further than the law in providing rights and obligations.
