Get help early!
Struggling with debt and money problems is tough, however seeking advice from a financial counsellor can provide you with information and options that take into account your individual circumstances.
Leaving it too long may limit the options you have. Don’t leave it until your financial circumstances are so dire that you run out of options. While it is important to be optimistic about your situation, it does not hurt to get financial counselling advice early (even if it is only a back up plan) to ensure that you are well informed about your options.
People from all walks of life and circumstances speak to our phone counsellors. National Debt Helpline assists people who are experiencing financial difficulty. For example, you may have suffered job loss, reduced working hours or you may be struggling to pay your rent, mortgage or bills.
Remember money problems can happen to anyone. While you may feel embarrassed about seeking help, our National Debt Helpline phone counsellors are not judgmental about our callers’ circumstances, and offer confidential, independent and free advice.
For help please go to our contact page or call 1800 007 007, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5pm.
